With strong networks in Asia, Australia Europe and USA, Mitko Trading (MTL) was formed in 2014 to provide trading and commercial support to a base of customers. The company front-ends customers as their representatives in negotiations with suppliers of various products and services, negotiating agreements, undertaking market research in addition to supplying of human resources, management consulting in HR development and technical aspects and contract management of enterprises. Mitko Family Health Care (FHC), which came into being in July 2015 is a clearly differentiated business from Mitko’s traditional business of mining, civil engineering and ICT which currently operates under Mitko Trading. It is the group’s ‘social-biz’ entity, a unique blend social services and business but operating on commercial norms. The core business of the company is on sexual and reproductive health care while caring for total family wellbeing. ‘Mitko FHC is being positioned as the key private sector player in the family planning market among a couple of private sector “commercial” players. However the market leaders are Non-Governmental and non-profit organizations both international and local. Currently Mitko FHC markets its own brands of condoms ‘Happy’ and ‘Thriller’ helping the health care authorities in prevention of unplanned pregnancies as well as sexually transmitted infections and HIV. A range of related products are to be added from time to time. All company products and services are launched under the guidance of its medical advisory team.

Mitko Trading is also very active in trading of commodities of Sri Lanka, grown strictly under organic farming conditions exporting several key Middle Eastern and European markets. The main products are cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and pepper. These commodities are well known for its natural flavoring properties but more valued for its medicinal acceptance for numerous use.

Mitko Trading is also involved in import and export of lentils which are widely used in Sri Lanka and works as the Trading arm under Mitko Homes Australia. It also acts as sourcing agents for main global suppliers. Mitko Trading has now developed plans along with a key global supplier and a trader to brand some of these commodities.
